Warlock guide
Yowyow,
DuFErnst asked me to make a lvl 80 Warlock guide for the site. So there it is. Questions etc can be posted and I will try to answer them. In this guide I will try to talk about the different specc’s in PvE, the main required stats, rotation’s, consumable’s
(This is a pve lvl 80 warlock guide, made for patch 3.3.2 and 3.3.3! This guide will be updated once new patches come)
Ok, well warlocks have like all classes in WoW 3 specc’s. Affliction, Demology and Destruction.
every specc has his own strong points and weaknesses.
Affliction: mainly focus on the DoT’s (damage over time) a warlock has.
Demology: buffing the raid/group with spellpower and has a felguard.
Destruction: the warlock specc with the most burst damg and able to kill something really quick.
Consumables
Well those are easy, Its always flask of the frostwyrm. No questions about that.
As food you can use Tender shoveltusk steak or firecracker salmon (both 46 spellpower and 40 stam). Also a fishfeast gives the same result if you got a rich or friendly guy in your raid.
stats
Ok since affliction is my own mainspecc atm, im gonna start with that.
the main stats needed for affliction are:
reaching the spellhit cap witch is 17%
after the hitcap is the main stat spellpower, you never have enough spellpower, and with that you will have to remember that you have Glyph of Lifetap and Fel Armor. So spirit is also nice to have.
after hitcap/spellpower and spirit, you want haste. With the new Glyph of Quicke Decay is haste even better to have then before. After all those stats you can get some crit witch is always nice to have. The other stats are not importend.
rotation affli
This is my rotation on a bossfight.
If you don’t have a unholy dk or other warlock/moonkin you use Curse of Elements els you can skip this part.
start with a rank 1 lifetap to proc the glyph.
then a shadowbolt to get Shadow Embrace on the boss
after that a haunt for the second stack, followed by Unstable Affliction and Corruption, then Curse of Agony. After that you Shadowbolt till Haunt is off cooldown, when thats done you use the haunt, another shadowbolt and refresh UA. Because Shadowbolt and Haunt refresh the Corruption you should never have to refresh it by yourself. You want to trow in as much shadowbolt between refreshing your DoT’s, and when you refresh them, on the second they run off. So never to soon. that’s the key to the most damage. Timerbutton or such a addon is really handy to use for it.
rotation destro
Again if you don’t have a unholy DK, moonkin or other warlock in the raid you use CoE. The warlock using CoE is preferly a destro lock. so first CoE on the boss, after that rank1 lifetap to proc the glyph if you use it, els its useless. Immolate, Chaos bolt, Conflagrate followed by the filler: Incinerate. You can cast that about four times before your Chaos bolt cooldown is off again. Basicely it’s useing Chaos bolt and Conflagrate when the cooldown is off, when they are on cooldown you use Incinerate and keep refreshing your immolate the moment it runs off. You don’t want to refresh it to soon, that’s a dps loss.
rotation demo
This is the specc i know the least from, so i could make some mistakes here. gonna do my best tho.
You start with putting Imolate and Corruption on the target, the filled in demo is still shadow bolt, so thats your main nuke. Until Molten Core prox, then you cast Incinerate 3 times, the molten core effect will be gone then and you will return to shadow bolt. Keep doing this until the boss you are fighting reaches the 35%, you will gain a decimation, then its just keeping up the DoT’s and spam Soul Fire for you life. The last 35% of a bossfight is when the demo lock does the most damg. Also you want to use your Metamorphoses and other cooldowns for those moments, pref even with heroism.
